STEVIE® AWARDS FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

ANNOUNCE 2005 WINNERS & FINALISTS


Fairfax, VA – December 14, 2005 – Shining a spotlight on 34 outstanding women executives, business owners and companies, The 2005 Stevie Awards for Women Entrepreneurs winners were announced today in categories including Best Entrepreneur, Best Executive, Best New Service of the Year and Best Overall Company.

The Stevie Awards for Women Entrepreneurs, www.stevieawards.com/women, is an international awards competition recognizing the accomplishments of women executives and business owners.  The awards are produced by the creators of the prestigious American Business Awards.

The big winners were iRobot Corp. of Burlington, MA and BDS Marketing of Irvine, CA.  iRobot won Stevies in three categories, for Best Overall Company, Most Innovative Company, and Best Entrepreneur (Helen Greiner, co-founder).  BDS’s two Stevies were won for its work for PUMA, in the Best Marketing Campaign category, and for chairman emeritus Beverly Ham, in the Women Helping Women category.

Other companies featured in the winners’ circle include APCO Worldwide, LinkShare Corporation, Marriott International, NCR Corporation, Oskar Mobil a.s. Nicknamed the Stevie for the Greek word “crowned,” the elegant Stevie trophy was designed by R. S. Owens, the same company that makes the Clio and the Emmy.  More than 470 nominations were submitted for consideration in over 40 categories.

The Stevie Awards for Women Entrepreneurs are governed by a board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors that features many leading women entrepreneurs and luminaries in business, including Carrie Fitzmaurice, Publisher for Entrepreneur Media, Inc.;  Edie Fraser, President of the Business Women's Network; and Dr. Betty Spence, President of The National Association for Female Executives.
